The Mamo portal was created to give a supporting environment for cancer patients and at the same to educate people, especially young adults, about the same subject. The duo behind this online portal are Marina Zubak and Diana Zubak, mother and daughter. While Diana is the designer in this project, Marina is the author of the articles and a strong breast cancer survivor.
Mutual support brings great well-being in a psychological sense, because those who go through the same best understand each other. Support of the surrounding environment is very important to the patients going through this disease, because it strengthens them on their way through battling cancer.

The design is inspired by the number of women represented in the exhibition—thirteen. Thirteen simplified and playful illustrations of a breast, each in a different color, represent the strength and uniqueness of the women behind this exhibition. By repeating the illustrations in a fun, approachable way, the design aims to reduce the stigma around discussing breast cancer, doing breast self-checks, and talking about breasts in general.
The color pink, as a symbol of breast cancer awareness, is inviting and comforting, making conversations around cancer feel less intimidating.
A heartfelt thank you to all the women who participated in the exhibition and generously shared a part of their lives.
